The only Southeast Asian representative team at the StarLadder ImbaTV Minor, BOOM Esports got knocked out of contention for the title by Alliance, leaving China, Europe and CIS to fight for the trophy and the final spot at the ESL One Los Angeles Major.

BOOM Esports made it to the SL ImbaTV Dota 2 Minor after nearly one year of struggles. Their last Dota Pro Circuit appearance was made in April 2019 at the OGA Dota PIT Minor. A lot have changed for the Indonesian team since then, including their tag, as back then they were playing as BOOM ID. Much like in their previous DPC adventure, BOOM delivered in the Kyiv Cybersport Arena a couple of upsets to reach the playoffs stage. On their way to top 4, they eliminated the much more experienced Business Associates, who are none others than former J.Storm fighting under Clinton “Fear” Loomis’ leadership, and also sent packing the CIS veterans  Ivan “VANSKOR” Skorokhod and Stanislav “BZZ/633” Glushan of forZe eSports. But, despite their great achievements in the group stage, BOOM Esports couldn’t keep the pace with their playoffs adversaries.

Defeated earlier in the day by Gambit, BOOM Esports were pitted in the first lower bracket round against Alliance. The series went down pretty fast, with Alliance taking calculated risks to ensure their victory. In game one they played around Death Prophet and Mars big ultimate cool downs, while also having Troll Warlord to ensure them a strong map presence. After the game one victory, Alliance chose to have the last pick of the second draft and tricked BOOM Esports to think that they will once again go with a mid lane DP, when instead they gave the hero to Nikolay “Nikobaby” Nikolov and saved the last pick for Linus “Limmp” Blomdin, who went mid on Templar Assassin. The game ended at the 20-minute mark with a 23-2 kill score in Alliance’s favor.

The top four finish at the StarLadder ImbaTV Dota 2 Minor for BOOM Esports is their best result so far in any Dota Pro Circuit tournament. The Indonesian team has made it so far to three other Minors in the previous season, and up until now their best placement was the top 6 placement at the OGA Dota Pit Minor from 2019.
