LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The Culinary Workers Union 226 is holding a video news conference Thursday to provide an update to thousands of casino workers who are currently not working due to the COVID-19 pandemic and closure of gaming properties.
The union says it will call on the industry to leverage its unique financial and political position to ensure the economy and health care protections for workers.
“While some industry leaders have stepped up to ensure workers are taken care of during this crisis, too many others have not,” said the news release.
The call will include UNITE HERE union leadership, casino workers and union members from Biloxi, Atlantic City and Las Vegas.
The Wynn Las Vegas, MGM Resorts and Stations Casinos are among the companies that continue to pay employees.
