Birmingham’s Magic City ePLEX will hold its grand opening this weekend by hosting the first-ever Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) eSports State Championship this Friday.

A gaming and virtual reality entertainment center, Magic City ePLEX has 18,000 square feet of gaming and virtual reality space and a full restaurant and bar. The games and experiences range from races to shooters to zombies and escape rooms.

The Clutch Bar and Café has 20 taps and offers salads, pizza, wings, and subs with private rooms for parties and corporate events.

This Friday will feature the AHSSA 2020 Championship, the first head-to-head, officially sanctioned high school eSports Championship.

The championship will feature the state finalists in League of Legends and Rocket League. The final teams competing in League of Legends are Bob Jones Patriots from Madison and Thompson High School Warriors from Alabaster. The finalists in Rocket League are Bob Jones Patriots and Grissom High School Tigers from Huntsville.
